Chemehuevi Indian Tribe

Chemehuevi Single-Family Solar Project

The Chemehuevi Indian Tribe will install approximately 32 kilowatts of solar to enhance the Tribe’s energy and self-sufficiency goals, reducing their impact on the environment, and improve living conditions by creating job opportunities and reducing energy costs in their low desert region.

The tribe plans to install 32 kilowatts of solar on eight low-income, single-family homes. The systems will generate at least 30-75% of total electricity used, totaling at least 53,958 kWh over 25 years. Low-income tribal residents receive a no cost solar system and two tribal members will benefit from up to 120 hours of paid job training to learn solar installation.
