Chiloquin, Oregon
Klamath Tribes operates a residential facility for Tribal members who are elderly and/or disabled in rural Chiloquin, Oregon (pop. 770).
Each unit is separately metered and tenants are responsible for some or all of their actual costs. Utility bills are a big percentage of tenants limited fixed income, with impacts being higher in seasonal extremes. Rooftop solar will help reduce tenant bills and financial distress. More broadly, the proposed system is intended to help the Tribes benchmark the economic and environmental benefits of moving towards renewables. The overall mission of the Economic Development Corporation is to drive economic self-sufficiency, and reducing costs of energy for members is a key part of this strategy.
