The Pueblo of Santa Ana (PSA) hopes to build its clean energy portfolio through a facility-scale solar project.
The PSA intends to partner with GRID Alternatives’ Tribal Program to install a 102.5 kW system on the roof of the Tamaya Wellness Center at the cost of $299,985.23. This project would realize the benefits of solar while avoiding the major upfront financial costs associated with a solar installation. The system will be grid-tied with micro inverters and interconnected to the local utility, Public Service Company of New Mexico. GRID will provide paid hands-on training to at least 3 local tribal members. The system is estimated to produce 185,000 kWh of clean, renewable energy a year and save the Tribe approximately $13,791.84 per year for 25 years. This project will build off previous efforts from the Pueblo to transition to cleaner energy production and utilize New Mexico solar policies to cut energy costs for the community.
