Big Pine, California
The Big Pine Paiute Community Building Solar Project will install a 34-kW roof-mounted solar system on a large Tribally-owned community building, the Alan Spoonhunter Memorial Gymnasium.
The Gym is the hub for multiple activities, including educational, social, ceremonial, and recreational. The proposed net-metered system will save the Tribe thousands of dollars per year on electrical costs, thereby allowing the Tribe to use the dollars elsewhere as it lessens its dependence on power delivered over the utility grid. The Tribe is pleased to have the opportunity to apply to the Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund, because other programs have constraints which either preclude the Tribe or are cost prohibitive.
