Standing Rock, North Dakota

The project consists of installing two solar-plus-storage EV charging systems at the SRST Tribal Office in Fort Yates, North Dakota.

This demonstration project would test a Tribal-led community-scale solar-powered charging solution, paving the way for future EV charging and solar PV projects. This project would accelerate the transition to EV’s in the Fort Yates rural community in the near term, as the system design allows for rapid deployment without the need for permitting, costly electrical upgrades, or long construction periods. Additionally, this project will leverage, complement, and expand upon existing efforts through the Upper Midwest Inter-Tribal EV Charging Community Network partnership to bring community and corridor charging to the Standing Rock and Red Lake Reservations. This project will build Tribal institutional capacity, increase local carbon-free, renewable energy generation, and support transportation electrification efforts in the area, all for the benefit of tribal members.
