Ojo Encino Chapter

Ojo Encino, New Mexico

The project is to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for 15 families living in the Ojo Encino Chapter of Navajo Nation.

It is estimated that 6 of the arrays will be 5 kW grid-tied systems and that 9 will be refurbishments of existing off-grid
arrays that are roughly 0.9 kW in size in order to serve families that are not connected to electricity. GRID Alternatives will lead solar installations with interested community members and students from Fort Lewis College and Navajo Technical University. GRID will also partner with Jemez Mountain Electric Cooperative (JMEC) to interconnect the grid-tied systems to the local utility.
